Data Loss ?
Hi, yesterday on my cell phone app my WD My Cloud asked me for some "firmware update". I confirmed and today when looking onto My Cloud via my computer, I can see that instead of all data, the only thing in my My Cloud is a new folder named Mac. Nothing else, no subfolders in Mac folder. Although in "Recent Files" I can see 3 files which I put onto My Cloud some time ago. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Are all the data really lost? ;-(

wdmcserver database gets locked in 4.4.0 firmware
Not 30 minutes after updating the firmware, the My Cloud app starts reporting that the device is offline.
It isn't -- I'm on my local network and can access the drive via SSH and file browsing.
Looking in the system logs, it looks like the database is hung.

WD email My Cloud offer 10/2/15
It bothers me as to whether WD is on top of things.? The email (advertisement) I received today, concerned My Cloud Model: WDBCTL0060HWT-NESN. On the webpage to which I was directed, under Specifications, it lists the following compatibility: Formatted NTFS for Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP (SP3) operating system; Mac OS X Mountain Lion, Lion and Snow Leopard operating systems; DLNA/UPnP devices for streaming; Internet connection.
Is WD meaning to say that this unit IS NOT compatabile with Windows 10? Or, is it that no one is proof reading what your publications say before offering it to the public?
Unless I am misinformed somewhere along the line, I feel this doesn't say much for the company.

WD sync
Does WD sync only sunc folders in the pblic folder? I used to use the old wd2go which when I logged in the files appeared in my remote computer drive list (i think itwas under my network locations?) and I could use synctoy to syc files between those on the WCmycloud and my computer. This worked absolutely fine so i have copies of my files on my private folder on wdmycloud and on my computer I really dont want to now put files in the sync folder to sync across when I have already got copies backed up. Is there an alternative method to connect remotely I could use?

WD MyCloud vs Slow Transfer Speeds
Hello,
I've been digging through the forum and other sites for weeks now, and still have no solution to this.
When transferring from my MyBook 6TB to a MyCloud 6TB, I get between 6 and 20MB transfer rate.
I use TeraCopy to transfer, because using Windows causes errors and eventually freezing.
PC#1 - I tried on a Windows 8 PC with only 2.0 USB ports and got this result. Gigabit Ethernet adapter verified.
PC#2 - I have since updated to my new Windows 10 (no Ethernet ports), but have a USB 3.0 to Network adapter. I plug the adapter into the 3.0 port, plug 1 device into the 3.0 output and 1 in the 2.0 or both into a 3.0 outlet on the adapter, and still no higher than 20MBPS.
In both cases, I have verified that my network is transferring at 1gbps. My Zoom router is also gigabit ready.
Should I ever be getting faster speeds? It seems like I should get near 100MB/s, but I never do. I've turned my firewall on and off, I turned off my wifi as well. (Transfer over wifi, or plugging the book into the cloud, or plugging the book into the router usb port to transfer are all 1.5MB or less)
I'm also copying the data, not transferring. I've tried commands via the app, and that works slower. I generally copy and paste into the device via windows. I also tried setting up a network place, but it seems to be the same as a copy.
Any suggestions would be amazing!

Unusably Slow After Updating Firmware
Alright here I'n not exactly at the most coherent of minds right now but here's the gist of it.
Tried updating my firmware just now. Updated it but got an error message saying it has failed and I should check whether there are red lights or something on it (they weren't any). However the version on the Dashbord shows the latest version (that I tried to update to) and even a check for update showed that it's updated to the latest version.
So naturally I tested thing out. My drives are still there on Windows Explorer and they show and I can access them and all that but access is debatable here. While I can see the files, accessing (even going to them) them takes ages. The closest I got to testing something was double clicking a video file and the only. But I can at least see them even if going to this takes forever. Going to deeper folders seems to be hard if not impossible.
I am unable to access the Dashboard, because the browser is stuck in some sort of very very long loading screen whenever I try the IP. Not even an error message it's just taking so long to access and it never gets there. I am however 100% confident that it's still using the same IP (and I know said IP) because I just set it up back to static with that IP (I changed it briefly to DCHP when I was updating) after I was done with the update. It also shows up on my router page with that IP so there's that.
But man it's like super slow to the point where it's next to useless right now. My computer can still see it though and knows it's working.
So what should be my next step? Cut the power? Not being able to access Dashboard is a pain.

OS3 [data loss] Destroyed safepoints on external USB drive
I updated to WDMyCloud v04.04.00-308 : Core F/W just a few moments ago, and found that my safepoints (which I've been creating for months) are now all gone. Both the data, and the definition of how to create safepoints (where and when) are all gone.
I tried to manually create a new safepoint, and now get this message:
Failed request received during this safepoint operation. (402002)
I get this error no matter how I do the safepoint (i.e. now vs later, auto-update or not).
The USB drive itself is fine, and I can browse it without issue. There's just no WD safepoint data on it, though there is an empty "_WDPROT" folder on it that was created at the time I tried a manual safepoint.
My safepoints were previously created at 4:00am every night, and succeeded last night as well (I get email notifications), but browing to restore a safepoint says I have none.
I'm not even sure I really want or expect an answer at this point. A backup device that destroys backups doesn't really deserve a second chance, in my book.

Streaming films from MyCloud - Keeps stopping!!!!
I have some movies on my WD my cloud NAS drive that I have been able to watch fine on my TV (in the same house and on the same network) up until a month or so ago where now they keep stopping at random points when viewing, it's almost like they are buffering if that makes sense?
Why is this happening as it's driving me crazy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The drive is showing as fully working and is running the latest firmware etc.

Unbricking 4tb MyCloud
I have a 4tb MyCloud I recently retrieved data from for a client. I had to format the drive to NTFS to get to the data and now I need to find a 4tb image to unbrick it and return it to its original state.
Has anybody any idea where I can find a 4tb MyCloud image?

Will Mycloud support OSX Photos later?
Hi Everyone, who can help me??
I have tried a lot of time, I would like to put my Photos Library in My cloud,
but it seems that OSX Photos did not support to set Library in NAS stroage,
When open OSX Photos, it always said it was error, need to fix....
I have tried put the library in the other MAC drive on the network, It seem okay...
But i really want to put the Library on the NAS, not OTHER MAC.
I just wonder can I partition half space to MAC extented Format??
I think Mac Format maybe solve the problem....maybe...
or WD will support OSX Photos later???

cannot see shares after update 04.04.00-308

Yesterday I loged to WDMYCLOUD and I found there is new update , so I took the update , and ater that I can not see all Network Drive , and the CP stuck at Initializing . ( i did system reset 3 times )

After firmware update to v04.04.00-308 my external USB WD MyBook 1230 disappeared
Hello,
I was wondering why my MyCloud shares weren't accessable since a few days. So I checked my MyCloud Webaccess and saw that the firmware was automatically updated.
Since the update my WD MyCloud (4TB) can't access to the via USB connected WD MyBook (4TB). MyCloud device see that the drive is connected, but only shows 0kb of 0kb free.
Is the any fix available for this, or do I have a chance to see (and copy) my data from the external USB MyCloud drive?
If this is the normal way how firmware updates work for MyCloud devices - for me then WD solutions are completey useless for storing data.
Of course I do regular backups, but not every day.

Blinking yellow light with disk activity
So, woke up this morning to find none of my devices around the house could see my NAS. Tried to go to the webpage with no joy. Tried to ping the device to get a 'host unreachable' response.
I've tried a soft and hard reset. It boots up and after 20 seconds or so, starts flashing the yellow light, with or without network cable plugged in.
There is a lot of disk activity and with the network cable plugged in, we have NIC light activity as expected.
As far as I'm aware, there have been no changes overnight.
I have the device set with a static IP which has been fine for weeks.
It is using v3.x firmware with automatic updates turned off so it can't have tried to install new firmware.
Do I leave it to see if the disk activity stops? Could it be reindexing everything after a power cycle? Or is the device goosed?
I've had a look around the forums and see no definitive situation or solution posited, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on a) what might have caused this to happen and b) what can be done to fix. It is only 9 months old so still under warranty and I have no intention of fiddling around to resolve it. If it's knackered, I'll get it swapped.
If anyone needs any more information for diagnosis, please ask and I'll provide if possible.

WD Sync shows configuring device error
When I run wd sync, the first screen appears like this. My OS is windows 10 home, and would connect to my cloud 3tb. Did anyone go through this? Hope to get your help. Thanks!

Mobile App version 4.4.1 - Bugs & Wishlist
So, the new iOS app (currently working with v4.4.1) is a major upate that enhances the capabilities of the My Cloud (firmware updates with El Capitan aside...).
However, there seems to be 3 things I have identified that are possibly bugs, and 3 things for the wish list:
Bugs
1. Photos Backup. I thought it was good news that the photos backup feature of old app 'WD Photos' is now integrated into the main app. However, I'm always getting "Failed" when it tries to do the backup. The activity log shows certain photos failed. I have two issues with this:
A. Why do these photos fail? I have not optimised storage on my iPhone 6s, and all photos have been downloaded to the phone. No explanation or clue as to why they fail.
B. That a single photo can make the entire back-up fail should be corrected.
2. Sharing. The new sharing feature is promising, but it doesn't work properly. I shared a folder with my daughter; on my iPhone, the My Cloud app shows as shared in the "Shared with others" link. On my daughter's phone, you would expect it to show in "Shared with me", but that's empty. Instead, it peculiarly shows the shared folder in "Shared with others".
3. OneDrive. Too regularly, I get the error message 'OneDrive offline...", when I can access it fine via the OneDrive app. Connections to third-party services don't seem to be too reliable.
Wish List
Features I would like to see in future releases are:
1. iCloud Drive. I would like iCloud Drive to be added as a service in this app, just like DropBox and OneDrive. Suspect there may also be demand for Goodle Drive, too (I don't use it).
2. Transfer to / from 3rd Party Services. I currently can't find a way to transfer files from OneDrive to my WD My Cloud, or vice versa. Seems a bit of a waste.
3. Back-up / Syncing of 3rd Party Services. I would the ability for my 3rd party services to be backed-up / synced with my WD My Cloud.
Anyone else experiencing the bugs, or have anything else to add to the wish list?

IOS wd my cloud app
Hi,
I tested that the IOS App named "My Cloud" will do auto upload to WD cloud device. I have 4000 photos taken in the past 6 months. They are all uploaded to the same folder. I also have an Android device. The Android WD app will upload but put all the photos and vidoes in separate folders named by the month/year.
Can I confirm the IOS App (iphone app, version 4.4.1) is behaving as it should? I do like the Android behavior with the separate folders contain different photos/videos in different months.
Is this something configurable in the IOS App and I missed it?
